First Responders Salute Hospital Workers

By Humber River Health

On Thursday, April 9, Toronto’s first responders sounded their sirens and turned on their lights while driving by the hospital’s front entrance in a surprise salute to our staff, physicians, and volunteers at HRH.

Our first responder colleagues, including Toronto Paramedics, Toronto Police, and the Toronto Fire Department, are critical in the fight against COVID-19, from making sure patients with flu-like symptoms get to hospitals safely, to ensuring Torontonians are social distancing.

“Those of us in the healthcare sector are squirreled away, and it’s very emotional to see this outpouring of support from the other teams who are also on the frontlines,” said HRH Chief of Staff, Dr. Michael Gardam.

From all of us at HRH, thank you to the first responders. We couldn’t do our job if you didn’t do yours. Together we will flatten the curve.
