On September 17, 2019 Humber River Health joins hospitals around the world to celebrate the first World Patient Safety Day! It is the first time the world will come together in a global commitment to recognize patient safety as a key health priority.

The World Health Organization is spotlighting patient safety to increase public awareness and engagement in a global campaign. The slogan is “Speak Up for Patient Safety”.

World Patient Safety Day brings together patients, families, caregivers, communities, healthcare workers, healthcare leaders and policymakers to show commitment to patient safety.

If you or a loved one are a patient, be actively involved in your own care. Provide accurate information about your medical history and be sure to communicate openly with your health care team. Ask questions to be aware of your health condition and treatment. Speak up for the safety of your care!
