Rehabilitation and Stroke Unit

The Stroke team serves patients with a wide range of unique challenges that follow a stroke.

The Inpatient Rehabilitation team serves medical patients, post-fracture, and surgical patients transferred within Humber River who benefit from daily rehabilitation. There will be 18 beds dedicated to rehabilitation patients.

Humber River’s Stroke and Inpatient Rehabilitation teams are multidisciplinary with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Rehab Assistants, Dietitians, Social Workers, Pharmacists, and Nursing staff delivering quality care.

The unit has a large rehab gym, and an enhanced ADL suite (Activities of Daily Living). The ADL suite replicates a home environment where Professional Allied staff provide functional assessments and treatment. These areas help patients and families prepare to get back to their daily lives, and understand and overcome any mobility challenges that they may face when the patient returns home.

We also have a dining room to help patients connect with their families during their length of stay which could extend up to 28 days. This eating area will also be used to help integrate the patient back to regular daily routines.
