Research at Humber River Hospital

Humber River Hospital understands that, in the field of medicine, tomorrow’s knowledge is the result of today’s research. As an organization we are pleased to offer support to those wishing to pursue research activities in partnership with our hospital. Our Research Ethics Board (REB) has been established to protect the rights and welfare of people participating in research conducted at Humber River Hospital.

The REB reviews and oversees such research to ensure that it meets all applicable ethical standards and that it complies with all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements in Canada and the U.S. These include, but are not limited to, Health Canada's Food and Drug Regulations, the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2), The International Conference on Harmonization: Good Clinical Practice (ICH:E6), The Ontario Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) 2002, The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) and the Humber River Hospital Mission, Vision and Values.

You are encouraged to contact the REB office for further information regarding the utmost ethical standards of Humber River Hospital's research studies involving human subjects.
