Intensive Care Unit

Humber River Hospital provides Medical and Surgical Critical Care services to adults with acute, life-threatening illness or injuries who require intensive, specialized and technologically supported care. The ICU also cares for patients who require critical care services following surgical procedures, or complex medical illnesses or infections (e.g., respiratory or renal diseases, sepsis).

Our inter-disciplinary team is comprised of physicians specializing in intensive care, nurses, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians, social work, clerical support and spiritual care.

Our Critical Care Response Team (CCRT) helps to enhance patient safety and outcomes by increasing access to critical care services across the hospital. Comprised of specially trained physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists from key departments throughout the hospital, the CCRT is about exporting the skills of the ICU and empowering healthcare professionals to act whenever they feel that a patient has the potential to become critically ill.

This unit is located on the 6th floor, use the Central elevators.
